Opening of Oliver Wyman's actuarial office in Hong Kong

For the Asia Pacific region, Oliver Wyman, a large management consulting firm and division of Marsh McLennan, has opened a new actuarial office in Hong Kong.

"This is a critical milestone in growing our worldwide actuarial business," said Mr. David Weinsier, leader of Oliver Wyman's US insurance actuarial group, in a statement. We see Asia as a significant potential to service our growing clientele, which includes businesses in the region already as well as those that have recently expanded into Asia or intend to do so.

The team will be under the direction of Mr. Marco Warmelink, partner and Asia Pacific actuarial practice leader, based in Hong Kong.

With more than 18 years in the Asia Pacific market, Mr. Warmelink has more than 25 years of expertise in the life insurance sector. Warmelink built up a sizable actuarial team covering China and Hong Kong while working as a partner at KPMG in Hong Kong prior to joining Oliver Wyman. He had a number of high executive positions before joining KPMG, including Chief Risk Officer for ING. Actuarial Science is the focus of Warmelink's master's degree from the University of Amsterdam. He belongs to both the Hong Kong Actuarial Society and the Dutch Actuarial Society.
